Q: Can an automatic car be standard too? My cousin has a kia optima 2005 and she says that it is...?
is that even possible??? if so...would it mess up the car in any way??

A: She does not know what she is talking about. An automatic transmission uses a torque converter clutch, in order to shift gears without the manual use of a clutch. A "standard" or manuel transmission does not have this, it has a regualr clutch that must be engaged by the driver using a pedal. If it only has 2 pedals on the ground, then its an automatic transmission If it has 3 pedals on the ground, its standard since the 3rd pedal is the clutch

Q: Should dealer be charging me for a diagnostic fee on my car?
I took my KIA Optima for service because it has an intermittent electrical problem that causes the air conditioner, radio, and cruise control to turn off for 1 second. This also causes my engine to stall or lose power momentarily. Also causing my car to jerk when the engine restarts. The dealer inspected the car and took it for a short drive on the freeway. They could not recreate the problem. My car still has the manufacture's warranty. The service technician tells me since they couldn't find a warranty related problem I should pay for the diagnostic fee. What should I do? Any ideas?

A: no you should not have had to pay for it,,everything is supposed to be covered ,,i would talk to the manager about it,i don't think your liable to pay it,,good luck with it.

Q: are kia's really that terrible?
im broke and my other car was very old and falling apart and not worth the money to fix.. so i went to a kia dealership and bought an '05 kia optima. it was a good price and i also have 100,000 mile warranty that covers a small list of things. my mom bought a kia a couple years ago and didn't really have many problems with it, not more than the next brand of car anyway. but after buying my car i was told by a handful of people that it was a bad move and that kia's are unreliable and not worth the money. but my car is an '05 and although i've only had it for a week, it runs like brand new. does anyone else have an opinion? i can't afford a super nice car but i want something reliable.. was it really that bad of a move?

A: I think you made an excellent choice in choosing a Kia. Since first coming out, they are very reliable and have a great warranty and customer service. I bought a 2005 Kia Sportage (new) and have had no problems! In 3 years, I have put on about 75,000 miles and my car is still running great. I also know others who have purchased Kia's as well (Optima, Rio, Spectra) and they love them as well. Congratulations on your purchase and good luck! I think you'll be very pleased!

Q: my car died while getting on the freeway and now won't start, was showing no signs before it died. ?
My car died while getting on the freeway, it showed no signs of running funny before that. it will not start now, but soiunds like it wants to, I had just put gas in it right before as well. it is a '04 kia optima there was no order, no overheating signs, and it does want to turn over it is making noise but will not turn all the way over. this was about 3.5hrs. ago and have to tried to start it, and still no go.

A: Check at the station, did you by mistake buy diesel? Happened to a customer of mine once, hope not! "BRILLIANT"!!!!

Q: Do I need a CAP, HO alternator, or a Optima battery?
I am running 2x channels @ 199RMS each to power my 2x 12" subs... Total 398RMS Its in a 05 KIA Sportage (Small SUV) Do I need a CAP, HO alternator, or a Optima battery?

A: Mario is right, however, your going to be fine, for that car you could go as high as 800 RMs without worry. UPDATE: To M M - I simply ask this, what charges that power cell...? Let me help you out here... your alternator... in fact the alternator is the ONLY thing producing electricity... the power cell does store a large amount of power, but as your thumping down the road it is slowwing draining, and recharging it is left up to the alternator, making it work even harder. and eventually it will fail... resulting in having to get a new one anyway.. A charging system should provide 100% of the power needed 100% of the time, if it does not, everything else is a bandaid...a expensive bandaid. For the cost of the Kinetik powercell, you can get a HO alternator..

Q: How much am I looking to pay for a bent axle?
Okay.. so my girlfriend posted it earlier. It's an '05 KIA Optima LX. And I was driving to work on some fairly icy roads, nothing too major. I was driving fine till about 2 minutes away from work when my car started to slide, at roughly 20-25 MPH, and I hit a curb, didn't hop it.. just nailed it head on and my car just took a mean bump. I managed to get her off the road and on a side street where I parked it. I look at the front driver's side tire, and the rim is heavily damaged and it's pushed up against the frame. And when I tried to turn my wheel, it was pushing up against the frame, giving it friction to even turn it completely, and you can hear the framework grinding against the wheel. So, I parked it for the night and I'm getting it towed tomorrow. I just would like to know about how much financial damage I'm looking at here..

A: As always when someone asks this question, $300,000 is my price. If this is too much, you'll have to ask someone else as they will have a different price. But I will fix it for $300,000.

Q: Why does my sony xplod cdx-gt510 not show track information?
I have a sony xplod cdx-gt510 that i installed on a 04 kia optima. From my understanding, it should show me track information on cd's and possibly on the radio station. None is shown however. Does anyone know if there is a setting that i need to change or is it something that i was mislead about?

A: I think you were misled. The Sony decks can show track information as long as the information is encoded on the CDs. On most store-bought CDs, it's not present. You should be able to get track information on CDs that are labeled "CD-Text", or CDs that you burn on your computer and include track labeling. As far as radio station info, if you want the station call letters to display you'll have to enter them yourself. You can change the display so that it shows whatever you want for a particular frequency, ie 99.7 becomes "WARB" or "HOT FM" or whatever you decide to enter. The Sony unit can't get that information from the radio broadcast; it can only display what you tell it to. The only way to get radio station displays is to have a deck with HD-radio or RDS built in; both are uncommon right now. If you don't have a manual for the deck, here's a link: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=CDXGT510&LOC=3

Q: whats the cheapest place to get insurance?
I got a 01 kia optima im 23 years old, male, and paying about 100 dollars a month for full coverage. Company: American Family. Any better deals

A: Insurance rates are determined by "loss experience". That means, if they get alot of expensive claims, their rates are going to go up across the board. If they have a good year, rates will come down. Because all insurance companies have good years and bad years, they all play "leap-frog" with their rates. The whole point is to pick a good insurance company and stay with them. You are going to have good years and bad years too. The longer you're with an insurance company, the greater the likelihood that they'll stick with you through your bad years. .

Q: What are the top 3 best and worst cars out of these and why?
1) nissan sentra 2) honda civic 3) Kia Optima 4) Toyota Camry 5) Pontiac G6 sedan 6) Suzuki Aerio 7) Toyota Rav4 8) Honda CRV 9) Mitsubishi Galant 10) Subaru Legacy

A: Those really are all decient cars, it just depends on which one's you like and dislike Likes G6 Legacy Sentra hates civic Optima CRV

Q: Do I need amp for my speakers?
I just installed cd-receiver Pioneer 5800 (22RMSx4) and 6x9 Pioneer speakers(40 RMS 250Watt Max) in my Kia Optima '04, it sounds better than factory stereo, but It feels like my speakers are not getting enough power to push the sound....(my friend has same speakers and it plays louder than mine). Could you recommend any amp that will push enough power for my speakers. P.S. I don't need smth Hi-end, or subwoofer-loud-bass related items... Thanks

A: I'd check you stock head unit's output, most likely its not enough to power your 6X9's. I'd get a low watt 2 channel amp and wire them in series. You could go with a 4 channel but its gonna cost a lot more. Don't get a kenwood tho, i'm having problems with mine and i haven't heard anything good about kenwood. I'd go with an alpine if you got the cash, otherwise Infinity or Sony would do it. You probably shouldn't have gotten Pioneers tho.

Q: Drive Switch Input Circuit High - What does this mean?
Drive Switch Input Circuit High - What does this mean? If its appearing on Kia Optima. If anyone has ever faced this with other vehicles, what were the solutions & costs. The Actual Code is P0855

A: What this means is that the computer sends out a 5 volt reference sgnal to different switches and sensors in the engine. The sensors send back a variable 1volt to 5 volt signal to the computer to let it know a certain condition. When they say that the circuit is HIGH, it means that the sensor is sending a maximun voltage to the computer at all times and isnt functioning properly. Change it.

Q: Which car is good as per your openion?
I wish to buy mid size to compact sedan car.Can you advise me which of following can be good choice OR you can suggest your own choice. Toyata corrola, Ford focus Suzuki forenza Kia spectra/optima

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota... First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car - for example here - carinsurance.deep-ice.com

Q: Changing the belt on my car ?
I was wondering when I should get the belt changed on my car ? I have a Kia Optima 60k I bought it at 20k.. Thanks ppl Thanks for your help guys.. I appreciate it !

A: Save up and change that timing belt! (The timing belt is the one you can't see, but when you call and ask how much to change it, they know what you are talking about.) I neglected to change mine (should have at 60,000 miles) and it broke at 110,000 miles, stopping my car immediately (out of town) and costing $1500 to rebuild the engine. It's not expensive when you figure it over 60,000 miles. Best regards, Mike

Q: What should I name my car haha?
It is a 2004 black Kia optima. Its a boy :)

A: I wouldn't get that attached to it, its 5 years old. It's already lasted 3 years longer than most.

A: Toyota is known for its durability. Check out consumer' digest for yourself. I prefer Honda Civics, there rated the best for quality, and I had 15 happy years with a '93.
